Olivia Eljaiek-Hendricks is a doctoral student in the Department of English at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She holds a B.A. in psychology from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, where she studied violin and played in the conservatory’s symphony.

Through continuing studies in violin and music theory at Emory alongside doctoral work in literature, she became interested in the cultural work made possible through the overlap of literature, music, and performance.

In particular, she researches how these areas layer upon each other in genres like opera and musical theatre to create affectively-charged representations of bodies, especially “iconic” bodies that circulate in and across popular cultures.
